Evaluation
on my magazine page
Before my individual research, we
were given an article from the Newsbeat. We read through it individually and
took notes from it. It talks about the music industry trying to deal with
piracy for more than 10 years. In class we done individual research and took
noted from websites like BBC, guardian, bpi, media etc. with these notes we
done a discussion/ debate on agreeing and disagreeing that file-sharing isn't
affecting the music industry negatively. From my research I paraphrased it to
form my own article on a magazine page. The most challenging part of the
research was to find what celebrities have said about illegal file-sharing. The
other hard part was finding information that says illegal file-sharing isn't
wrong because people try encouraging others to buy music rather than
downloading it illegally. I believe 'The Daily Mail' has helped me find the
most important information I needed. The information i have got from The Daily
Mail was Shakira's positive view about illegal file-sharing.
In my journalistic writings I have
used rhetorical questions to make the readers want to read on. I have used 1st person language to add my
point of view on illegal file-sharing and used 3rd person language as I was
talking about two different artists (50-cent & Shakira) and quoted their
views. I layered writings in a 3 line block columns. And have used both high
and low lexis as a wide range of age groups may read a music magazine.
I have used a special pack called the
InDesign which slightly looks like Photoshop. This is where I have done the
general designing of the magazine page. I have also placed an enlarged picture
of Shakira on the right side of my magazine. I have used PowerPoint word to
write out the draft of my article to make sure i don't have little errors like
spelling mistakes and so on. My strengths in my opinion were that have done the
colour contrast well with the background and text.
Publishing was generally easy; the
only problem was that the firewall kept blocking some parts of the page which
made it much more difficult to blog my magazine onto blogger. My magazine is
now available on blogger, which everyone and anyone to see. I have asked two
people to feedback on my work. I have wrote some of what my friends have said onto
my blogger for everyone to see where I have gone wrong and what they think was
good about my magazine page.
